UNMC invites its supporters to give back during UNMC Giving Day — For the Greater Good on March 30-31.
UNMC’s first-ever virtual day of giving will unite alumni, students, faculty, staff, friends and grateful patients from around the globe to fuel the workforce and future of health care.
To honor UNMC’s founding in 1869, the philanthropic event will last for 1,869 minutes (about 31 hours). The day will start at 10 a.m. March 30 and conclude at 5 p.m. March 31. The goal is to receive 1,000 gifts.
The giving day will advance UNMC by supporting scholarships, colleges, student organizations and UNMC’s clinical partners and institutions. Nebraska Medicine, UNMC’s primary clinical partner, is participating in the giving event.
“UNMC is committed to enhancing the quality of life of Nebraskans and those around the world,” said UNMC Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold, MD. “The inaugural UNMC Giving Day — For the Greater Good represents an opportunity for UNMC supporters to come together in support of our students and campus. Your gift will help to assure that our education, research and patient care continue to be regarded as extraordinary.”
Supporters can help in several ways:
- GIVE: Choose one or more areas of support. You may contribute online at the UNMC Giving Day website. Anyone who makes a gift totaling $65 or more will receive a UNMC fleece blanket. Gifts may be made online beginning March 1.
- SHARE: Spread the word and encourage others to give using #UNMCGivingDay on social media.
- FOLLOW: To like and share UNMC stories, follow UNMC on Facebook, on Instagram or on Twitter.
UNMC and the University of Nebraska Foundation are seeking sponsors for the campaign. Sponsors provide challenge funds to encourage others to give. The deadline for challenge sponsors is March 17. To learn more about being a sponsor, contact Janelle Domeyer by email or at 402-504-3328.
Student groups have until March 17 to register to participate.
