Webinar will discuss ‘The Wonderful World of the Placenta’

Lynda Harris, PhD, an associate professor for the UNMC Department of OB-GYN, will present “The Wonderful World of the Placenta: How it Works, What Can Go Wrong and Using Nanomedicines to Fix It” on Tuesday, Feb. 14, at noon. This webinar is part of the Olson Center for Women’s Health and UNMC College of Nursing webinar series.

Dr. Harris will discuss the placental structure and function in humans. She will explain how a poorly functioning placenta can cause pregnancy complications such as pre-eclampsia, fetal growth restriction and stillbirth. She also will analyze the risks involved in using medicines during pregnancy while exploring approaches to help reduce these risks.
