Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis – Feb. 1. Comprised of 15 of the finest jazz soloists and ensemble players today and led by Wynton Marsalis, this orchestra performs a vast repertoire ranging from original compositions to masterworks by Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Thelonious Monk, Mary Lou Williams, Dizzy Gillespie, Benny Goodman, Charles Mingus and others.
Ballet Hispánico: “Doña Perón” – Feb. 4. Ballet Hispánico is the nation’s renowned Latino dance organization and one of America’s cultural treasures. “Doña Perón” is an explosive portrait of Eva “Evita” Perón, one of the most recognizable and controversial women in Argentinian history. The illegitimate daughter of a prosperous farmer, Evita concealed her past as she rose the ranks from dance hall performer to Argentina’s first lady, all before her untimely death at the age of 33.
Dragons & Mystical Beasts – Feb. 5. This is a family-friendly, sensory-inclusive performance. Enter into a magical world of myths and legends in this fantastical new interactive show for the family. From the creators of the West End smash hit Dinosaur World Live, who bring spectacular puppets to life, the performance offers a new, spell-binding adventure live on stage.
Harper Lee’s “To Kill A Mockingbird” – Feb. 7-12. This is Academy Award winner Aaron Sorkin’s adaptation of Harper Lee’s Pulitzer Prize-winning masterwork. The New York Times Critic’s Pick is acclaimed as “the most successful American play in Broadway history.” Emmy Award-winning actor Richard Thomas plays the role of Atticus Finch in the national tour. Curley Taylor & Zydeco Trouble – Feb. 10. From the heart of Creole country in Louisiana to the Holland Music Club, Curley Taylor and his band Zydeco Trouble are the sound of the party. Enjoy soulful, bluesy vocals and a hard-driving zydeco beat. Curley Taylor’s bluesy, soulful vocals and his band blend to create high-energy dance music for all audiences. Curley’s music is true to its roots in Louisiana Zydeco but contemporary enough to appeal to a broad range of music lovers.
National Geographic Live: Force of Nature – Feb. 21. From the towering mountains of the Himalaya to the slot canyons and stone arches of the desert, Earth is shaped by the raw power of nature. Capturing this might and majesty takes a special skill set-and a willingness to sign up for the seemingly impossible. Keith Ladzinski, adventure photographer and filmmaker, is renowned for his ability to get the shot in some of the world’s most in accessible and inhospitable environments. Whether chasing storms, getting up close and personal with wildlife or documenting extreme feats of adventure, Ladzinski has a fearless spirit that leads him to the furthest reaches of all seven continents.
Bria Skonberg – Feb. 24. Trailblazing trumpeter, vocalist and songwriter Bria Skonberg is shaking up the jazz world. Hear her at the Holland Music Club. Described as “one of the most versatile and imposing musicians of her generation” by the Wall Street Journal, she has performed with Jon Batiste, Wycliffe Gordon, Stephane Wrembel, Steven Bernstein, U2 and Sun Ra Arkestra. Her music has garnered more than 13 million streams online and 85,000 social media followers.
