Erin Snow has been named the new director of graduate medical education for the UNMC College of Medicine.
Name: Erin Snow
Title: GME Director
Hometown: Houston, Missouri
Talk about your new role and what you like best about it:
In total, I have nearly 15 years of experience in graduate medical education. Most of my time has been at the program level with internal medicine, and it’s been exciting to see the other side of graduate medical education from the institutional side of GME.
I have enjoyed building relationships with all the program directors and program coordinators and serving as an advocate for all house officers on campus. It is gratifying to see a house officer progress through training from being nervous on the first day of orientation to reaching the point of graduation and independent practice.
I am honored to serve as a resource to house officers and hopefully help make their lives a little easier in some way. The world of graduate medical education continues to rapidly evolve, and I’m very fortunate to have an amazing team in GME to navigate all the changes.
List three things people may not know about you:
- I’ve completed seven half marathons and hiked multiple 14ers in Colorado.
- I worked for the Secret Service when I was in college at Missouri State University. The position was specifically for college students, and I learned how to detect and classify counterfeit currency (the Secret Service does a lot more than protecting the president).
- I have a 1-year-old son and 3-year-old daughter who keep my husband and me very busy outside of work!
