Dr. Mohring honored with Innovator Award

Stephen Mohring, MD, from the UNMC Division of General Internal Medicine, was honored with the 2022 Innovator Award from the Nebraska Health Network.

Dr. Mohring received the award at the annual providers meeting for the network.

In bestowing the award, NHN described Dr. Mohring “as an integral part of Nebraska Medicine’s approach to rethinking how they care for patients.”

One of Dr. Mohring’s nominators wrote: “He is a key physician champion for Medicare annual wellness visits. He is an active collaborator, and his innovative approach allows caregivers to operate at the top of their license.”

The award was one of two “Value-Based Care Awards” given during the meeting. NHN describes these awards as recognizing individuals “for their inspiring leadership, implementation of innovative practices and efforts to embrace and advance value-based care initiatives.”

Dr. Mohring said he was thankful for the honor.

“This speaks to the commitment of UNMC and Nebraska Medicine to the ongoing focus of value-based care,” he said. “I am lucky to work with such an amazing team.”
