Nurse practitioner week recognized in November

Lt. Gov. Mike Foley presents 2022 APRN proclamation to Miranda Kliment, DNP, UNMC College of Nursing

UNMC College of Nursing students and nurse practitioner leaders were on hand Nov. 7 to receive a proclamation signed by Gov. Pete Ricketts declaring Nov. 13-19 National Nurse Practitioner Week in the state.

Miranda Kliment, DNP, clinical assistant professor in the CON-Lincoln Division, led the group to the State Capital to witness the proclamation, which recognizes the impact these frontline providers have on the state and the vital role they play in public health.

Juliann Sebastian, PhD, dean of the UNMC College of Nursing, offered her congratulations and said nurse practitioners provide an answer to the growing demand for primary care.

“Nurse practitioners not only mitigate the effect of shortages of primary care providers, but they add a unique element of nursing philosophies of care and health promotion,” she said. “Congratulations to our nurse practitioner faculty and students on this recognition.”
