Teresa Pisasale, senior software engineer in IT Development and Operations at UNMC, is the December Gold U Award winner.
“I am incredibly humbled to receive this award,” she said. “This award is a reflection of all the people who allow me to bring their ideas to life.”
Pisasale joined the med center 26 years ago. She works with UNMC research departments to develop online applications that address the unique needs of each department.
Tracie Clemons, compliance coordinator and liaison, praised Pisasale’s work applications, saying they surpass commercial products.
“To say she is indispensable is an understatement,” Clemons said. “Teresa doesn’t stop until a problem is fixed, and her work ethic goes beyond any expectations. She serves a lot of different groups but treats us all as her top priority.”
“Teresa has the superior ability to understand what is needed and find solutions for the end user as well as those implementing day-to-day processes,” administrator Beth Blackburn said. “She strives for excellence as she is constantly seeking solutions for improvement.”
Crediting her customers and colleagues, Pisasale said she enjoys building relationships with individuals across the university.
“I have a great manager who allows me to make decisions that work specifically for my support areas,” she said. “The development team that I work with are talented and committed to being successful, and my customers are amazing. I would not be able to accomplish anything without these groups of people.”
Pisasale said she values the variety of projects she gets to work on and the freedom to be creative and think outside the box.
“In the end, the reward of creating something that enhances the work life of customers is fulfilling and gives me a sense of purpose,” she said.
