The UNMC Department of Internal Medicine was well represented among the Nebraska Chapter of the American College of Physicians annual meeting on Oct. 15.
The ACP is a national organization comprised of internal medicine physicians. The Nebraska chapter includes approximately 1,000 members. The ACP is the largest medical specialty society in the world.
The meeting involved a welcome from the chapter governor, UNMC’s Micah Beachy, DO, of the division of hospital medicine. Scott Lundgren, DO, division of cardiology, presented on heart failure management. Justin Birge, MD, division of hospital medicine, spoke on health information systems.
In addition, Raquel Lamarche, MD, presented an oral abstract as part of the resident abstract competition, and Regan Taylor, MD, division of general internal medicine, was the head of the awards committee.
UNMC awardees included:

- Tammy Wichman, MD, associate professor, pulmonary, critical care & sleep medicine division: Woman Physician of the Year Award
- RemyGrace Sass, MD, internal medicine resident: Resident of the Year Award
- Nate Anderson, MD, assistant professor, division of general internal medicine, head of chapter’s scientific program committee: LeeRoy Meyer Dedicated Teaching Award
- Jocelyn Daubendiek: Medical Student Abstract Competition winner
- Brett Begley, MD, Domenic DiSanti, DO, Joshua Edgar, MD, Hannah Luksa, MD: Doctors Dilemma Competition winners
