The UNMC Division of Student Success will hold a “Fill the Pantry” donation drive in support of the Maverick Food Pantry from Nov. 14-28.
The Maverick Food Pantry supports the UNMC and University of Nebraska at Omaha communities with food and personal hygiene products and connections to other area resources. It is located at UNO’s Dodge Campus in the Barbara Weitz Community Engagement Center.
Last year, the Maverick Food Pantry distributed 271 orders of food and hygiene supplies to UNMC guests. Since July 2022, the pantry has supplied 100 bags to UNMC students in need, with an additional 13 bags supplied to children or dependents. Students in need of support may submit a request for items from the pantry.
Members of the med center community who wish to donate food and hygiene items (particularly those on the Maverick Food Pantry’s wish list) can use one of the blue donation drop-off bins located throughout campus at the following locations:
- Student Life Center, second floor lounge
- Sorrell Center, second floor atrium
- Williams Science Hall, financial aid suite
- UNMC Childcare Development Center
- University Tower, outside Nebraska Café
- Durham Research Center, commons area
Those who wish to donate funds to the pantry can visit the University of Nebraska Foundation website and select “Maverick Food Pantry Excellence Fund” in the drop-down menu for “Choose a Fund.”
The “Fill the Pantry” drive is made possible through partnerships with Nebraska Medicine Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and the Omaha Advocacy Club. Please contact Krysta Larson by email or at 402-559-3809 with questions about the drive or to report a full donation bin.
Thank you for doing this. I think it is a wonderful program.
