The med center is celebrating anesthesiologist Richard Holcomb, MD. Fifty years ago, he became a diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology, which makes him the med center’s longest serving anesthesiologist.
“Dr. Holcomb is the epitome of a lifelong learner,” said Steven Lisco, MD, chair of the UNMC Department of Anesthesiology and Nebraska Medicine chief academic officer. “Please join me in celebrating Rich’s accomplishment of 50 years of continuous board certification and his contributions to the department of anesthesiology, UNMC and Nebraska Medicine; a truly outstanding accomplishment.”
Dr. Holcomb, an assistant professor in the UNMC Department of Anesthesiology, attended medical school at Creighton University School of Medicine, graduating in 1967. Following graduation, he completed his internship at Creighton University Medical Center prior to heading to Seattle, Washington, and the University of Washington for his residency and pain management fellowship, which he completed in 1971.
