Bridge to Care, a student-led interprofessional organization at UNMC focused on refugee health, will host its annual Fall Refugee Health Fair on Saturday, Nov. 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Omaha Benson High School.
Students from all UNMC colleges will volunteer at the health fair alongside dozens of community vendors to provide health education, screenings and services to an expected 400 to 500 Sudanese, Somali, Karen and Bhutanese refugees living in and around the Omaha community.
Free health screenings and services will include:
- Vital signs including blood pressure
- Blood sugar screenings
- Flu shots
- Vision and skin check
- Food and supplies
- Dental exams
Services and education will be provided by a variety of UNMC and community organizations.
