UNMC’s Michael Smith, MD, and a team of campus facilitators will lead a four-unit communication skills workshop that incorporates the principles of improvisational theater to enable participants to become more agile communicators.
The in-person workshop series, “The Art of Thinking on Your Feet,” runs from October to March and is being hosted by the UNMC Office of Faculty Development.
Participants will develop and practice the skills involved in decoding emotional intelligence, excelling at non-verbal communication, cultivating a positive mindset and strategies for breaking barriers and building bridges.
Each of the four workshops in the series contains two parts. While it is encouraged to attend both sessions within a unit, it is not mandatory. People who are interested can register for any or all sessions.
Registration links and a detailed description of each session can be found on the workshop webpage.
Dr. Smith will also lead a TEDxOmaha talk titled “Life is an Improvisation” at KANEKO on Monday, Oct. 17, at 6 p.m. For additional details and registration click here.
