The Omaha chapter of 100 Women Who Care donated $7,800 to the Meyer Foundation for Disabilities on Sept. 29.
On top of that donation, a private foundation will provide a 50% match on what the organization contributed to the Meyer Foundation.
The Meyer Foundation supports recreation therapy programs for adults with developmental disabilities at the Munroe-Meyer Institute (MMI) at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
The 100 Women Who Care organization is a nationwide group, and each quarter three local members make presentations urging donations to a local nonprofit that’s not a chapter of a larger national organization, said Mary McHale, president of the Meyer Foundation for Disabilities board.
“This donation will provide further opportunities for adults at the UNMC MMI Recreational Therapy Department,” McHale said.
MMI’s Diane Pickering gave a presentation in support of the Meyer Foundation, and members of 100 Women Who Care voted in support, which led to the donation.
