Med center colleagues who need an N95 fit test can sign up for a November appointment now.
On-site fit testing appointments will be held across the organization throughout November.
The Occupational Health and Safety Administration requires workers who have a potential for exposure to airborne and/or aerosolized diseases be tested on a yearly basis.
Employee Health and nursing professional development specialists created a schedule to ensure colleagues are fit-tested in an organized manner. No walk-in appointments will be available.
- In November, float pool, roamers, PICC team and Wound staff can schedule.
- Ambulatory, procedural and other employees who are required to fit test for their job roles can attend any of the sessions.
- Colleagues who have contact with COVID-19 patients, provide COVID-19 testing or handle COVID-19 specimens should make completing their annual fit test a priority and schedule it as soon as possible.
Colleagues can sign up in Apollo for a fit testing appointment by searching “fit test.” Appointments in November will be held on the following dates at the various locations listed:
- Monday, Nov. 7, through Wednesday, Nov. 9, at Bellevue Medical Center
- Thursday, Nov. 10, and Friday, Nov. 11, at Nebraska Medical Center, Learning Resource Center 1, basement level of Storz Pavilion
- Monday, Nov. 14, through Friday, Nov. 18, at Nebraska Medical Center, Learning Resource Center 1, basement level of Storz Pavilion
Colleagues who sign up for an appointment will be provided with fit testing guidelines and appointment paperwork through Apollo. Complete all the paperwork and bring it to the appointment. Anyone having trouble logging in to Apollo can submit an Apollo help ticket at this link.
Employee Health has made the decision for mask size to be uploaded into Workday under “Certifications.” Workday has been loaded with June, July and August dates thus far. Moving forward, colleagues are asked to upload their own mask(s) size into Workday after fit-test completion.
The goal is to streamline this process into Workday to match the current process of certifications, such as BLS, state license, ACLS. Instead of those, in the “Certifications” field, type the word “fit” and then hit enter to view the various mask sizes.
If someone has never updated certificates before in Workday, colleagues can ask their nursing professional development specialists or manager about how to do it.
By placing the mask size into Workday, all employees will have access to their size with a few simple clicks. Also, managers will be able to pull a report quickly for size and yearly expirations. Annual compliance still will be expected, but the employee will be responsible for ensuring that this is uploaded into Workday. UNMC staff and students still will be responsible for notifying their administrator of the mask size and keeping track of their own size.
Additional information is also available on the Employee Health SharePoint page. Moving forward, this page will not be updated with mask sizes now that it is in Workday.
