How I fell in love with dermatology: I first fell in love with dermatology while a student at Harvard Medical School, when I saw how the skin is a window into a person’s health and how, as a dermatologist, I can make a significant impact in someone’s health and comfort in a relatively short amount of time. I also loved the diversity of the field of dermatology. On a given morning, I can go from treating a baby with eczema, helping a busy mom with a cosmetic tune-up, screening for melanoma on a college student, to excising skin cancer in a grandfather. My day is full of adventures and is never boring. When I became faculty at BWH-Harvard Medical School, I fell in love with the human side of dermatology. Over the years, I enjoyed getting to know my patients, forming long-term therapeutic relationships in improving their skin and overall health. I loved when a patient tells me about their lives. There is no greater compliment when a patient refers their family members to me, and I never take that for granted.
