UNMC is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for all members of the campus community.
“Keeping our university and our faculty, staff, students, visitors and patients safe is a group effort,” said Charlotte Evans, chief of police and associate vice chancellor of the UNMC Department of Public Safety. “That round-the-clock work begins by being informed and observant of surroundings and working closely with the Public Safety team.”
The UNMC Department of Public Safety has — in accordance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1990, 20 U.S.C. Sec 1092 — released its annual Campus Safety and Fire Report, which includes information relating to crime statistics and policies concerning public safety.
In addition, the Department of Public Safety website includes helpful information on how to report a non-emergency incident or safety concern. Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to review the information on a routine basis and contact Public Safety with questions or concerns.
