Talk about your job and what you like best about it:
I am the coordinator for the Urologic Surgery residency program, the Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Metabolic Medicine Fellowship Program, and soon-to-be coordinator for the Pediatric Urologic Surgery Fellowship Program.
I have the unique opportunity to work in both the surgery and medicine worlds. It can certainly be chaotic, but I’m so grateful for everything that I have been able to learn over the past (almost) two years. I started as a medical receptionist in the oral surgery clinic in 2016, where I was first exposed to the academic side of medicine. Before taking on my current role, I worked as an office associate in gastroenterology and loved working with their fellows. So when I was offered a chance to work directly with residents/fellows myself, I was thrilled. What I love about my job is that you wear a variety of hats as a coordinator, and each day is a little different from the last. One day you’re writing call schedules, and the next you’re playing air traffic controller with Zoom breakout rooms for virtual recruitment.
There is a great community of support in the GME world, and I am delighted to be a part of it.
List three things people may not know about you:
— I have two kids, a 6-year-old daughter, Frankie, and 1-year-old son, Morris. We also have a dog named Doug and a cat named Thomas.
— I love pottery and have a pottery wheel at home
— I love to cook and try new recipes/foods. If not for the love of my nights and weekends, I would have loved to be a chef!
