Starting Tuesday, Sept. 6, the south sidewalk along Farnam Street, from 44th Street to Saddle Creek Road, will be closed along with the adjacent eastbound traffic lane.
The sidewalk closure is required for removal of concrete retaining walls and an associated underground structure beneath the sidewalk, as part of the ongoing work being done at the former Munroe-Meyer Institute location to prepare for future development.
Pedestrian traffic will be rerouted to use the north sidewalk that runs by Don & Millie’s.
Weather permitting, this section of retaining wall removal is expected to take approximately three weeks and will be followed with the closure of the Saddle Creek sidewalk between Farnam and Emile streets. The Saddle Creek work will include a traffic lane closure of the adjacent northbound lane. The Saddle Creek closure is expected to take an estimated two weeks, depending on the weather.
