The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research is seeking nominations for UNMC's annual research faculty awards: New Investigator Award, Distinguished Scientist Award, Research Leadership Award and Scientist Laureate Award.
These awards recognize UNMC faculty for their outstanding research achievements and sustained contributions to UNMC's research mission.

Assistant professors or above who have received their first independent national funding in the past fiscal year (July 1, 2021-June 30, 2022) are eligible for the New Investigator Award.
Nominees for the Distinguished Scientist Award must:
- Have a minimum of one year of service at UNMC prior to the award year;
- Be an associate professor or above; and
- Have a history of extramural funding at UNMC.
The Research Leadership Award recognizes past Distinguished Scientist Awardees with a continued record of consistent national funding and demonstrated research leadership.
Nominees for the Scientist Laureate Award, UNMC’s most prestigious research award, must meet all the above criteria for Distinguished Scientists and have a minimum of five years of service at UNMC prior to the award year.
Final candidates will be selected based upon volume and impact of publications, research funding and evidence of research collaboration with colleagues. Honorees will be announced as part of UNMC’s Distinguished Scientists award ceremony in early 2023.
Anyone is eligible to submit a nomination, and self-nominations are accepted. Please submit your nominations with a copy of the nominee's curriculum vitae through the NU Ramp internal competitions application on or before Oct. 28.
