Kiel Woodward, MD, is a new faculty member at UNMC.
- Name: Kiel Woodward, MD
- Hometown: Omaha
- Title and department at UNMC: Assistant professor, UNMC Department of Neurological Sciences, Division of Movement Disorders
Research/professional interests: I subspecialize in movement disorders neurology, so I am interested in treating people with Parkinson’s disease, tremors, balance problems, dystonia, tardive dyskinesias, restless legs syndrome, tics and any other abnormal movements. I am particularly interested in gait disorders and plan to develop a clinic specifically for people with this problem.
How I fell in love with neurology and movement disorders: When I started medical school, I thought I was going to pursue a career in surgery, but I became enamored with neurology during a clerkship when I got to work closely with a local neurologist. I was amazed at their ability to diagnose conditions simply by listening and observing, and I feel that movement disorders require the most skilled exam. I love the complexity of the brain and the patients in my clinic. I feel like I learn something new every day.
