New IT Helps platform is live today

Starting today, the new IT Helps platform for UNMC and Nebraska Medicine, ServiceNow, is up and ready for business.

Information technology released information about the new IT portal last month. After much preparation and teamwork, ServiceNow is making its official debut.

What’s new:

  • A one-stop shop for information about IT services. 
  • An announcements section for updates on issues that might be widespread.
  • A search bar that will connect people directly with the resources they need.
  • New self-resolution articles, which will provide instant solutions for the most common issues that come in to IT.
  • Simplified request forms that are easier to find.
  • Clearer view into the status of an employee's tickets and when the issues are expected to be resolved.

What stays the same (for now):

  • The "Request Something" option will continue to route to the current process for the time being.
  • Additional features and expansion, including the improved "Request Something" functionality, will continue through the rest of 2022 and into 2023.

Options for accessing the portal

1. UNMC or Nebraska Medicine app store. Navigate to "Websites" or "All Apps" and look for ServiceNow – Prod. Alternatively, type "ServiceNow" into the search bar to bring up the portal.

2. Quick Link on NOW or UNMC Today: A link to the portal also can be found under the "IT Helps" link in the Quick Links on the UNMC intranet or "Work/Support Requests" in the Quick Links on the NOW homepage.

 If a computer or network connection is down, call the IT Service Desk at 402-559-7700.
