As the academic year comes to a close, I want to reflect on some major happenings in Graduate Studies.
First, I am proud to announce that Terry Donohue, PhD, retired professor of internal medicine, now serves in the newly created role of wellness advocate for UNMC Graduate Studies. Dr. Donohue is a valuable resource for our students and will provide counsel on wellness, resiliency, stress management and more. As a Graduate Studies alum, Dr. Donohue has a unique understanding of what our students go through on their educational journey, and I’m thrilled he will be able to offer his wisdom to existing students.
Second, Pam Carmines, PhD, officially retired in May from her role as executive associate dean. I am grateful to Dr. Carmines for her distinguished service and multiple contributions to making UNMC the best place in the nation to train graduate students. I wish her a very successful and well-deserved retirement.
Finally, I want to congratulate all our recent graduates. It was an honor to celebrate their accomplishments at the Spring Convocation ceremony. I am confident our graduates have successful careers ahead of them and will be future leaders in their chosen fields.
I hope you enjoy reading these stories and celebrating our talented faculty, staff and students. I look forward to what next academic year will bring.
