Effective July 1, the Research IT Office (RITO) is updating the Research Electronic Data Capture (REDCap) fee policy. UNMC’s REDCap is a secure, web-based application for collection, management and analysis of research data, which is available to all UNMC faculty, staff and students.
Under the new policy, REDCap projects in development or production shall incur an annual hosting fee of $250 per project per year. This fee comes due 30 days after initiating any project.
The REDCap annual fee is intended to support the purchase, replacement and maintenance of the servers that store REDCap research projects. Under the previous policy, annual fees collected from users only covered 25% of the cost of maintaining servers, even as the number of Redcap projects continued to grow.
The new annual hosting fee will now also cover regular project management, including project backups, moving in production, reviewing change requests and adding external users, which were additional charges under the previous policy.
REDCap users who have project design rights of existing projects should have already been notified via email about the policy change and been given a list of their projects that will be impacted. Please delete any unwanted projects to avoid annual fees as instructed in the emails or see project deletion guidance. For more information, please read the REDCap usage and fee policy.
For any questions about REDCap projects, please reach out via email.
