Wireless network TK-421 being replaced

For years, wireless network TK-421 has been the network that med center colleagues used to complete their job duties. That is soon to change, as TK-421 is being replaced by a new network, MedCenter WiFi. 

Over the last 18 months, the information technology department has moved all managed enterprise devices over to the new MedCenter WiFi network. With the migration of all managed devices, IT has moved over all business-critical systems that it is aware of and manages.

Information security now is conducting an audit of the remaining devices on TK-421. Colleagues using the TK-421 network will receive an email from information security asking them to disconnect or communicate as to why their access is necessary. If no action is taken, access will begin to be restricted starting Tuesday, June 7. 

If someone wants to use complimentary Wi-Fi on a personal device, information security recommends all students, facility and staff use the Eduroam network. The Eduroam network is a secure environment to connect personal devices, and Nebraska Medicine and UNMC employees can use this network at other university campuses as well.

Here is how to join the Eduroam network:

If a device is enrolled, a network profile is provisioned on the user's behalf and configures a device to connect automatically. To enroll a device, follow these instructions.

If someone does not want to enroll a device, the user still can join the Eduroam network by using that user's full Nebraska Medicine or UNMC email and password.
