Nursing faculty, staff honored at awards ceremony

Lisa Muschall was honored with the Ada M. Lindsey Professional Staff Award.

On Wednesday, the UNMC College of Nursing honored 16 faculty and staff with its 2021 Awards for their leadership and outstanding work.

Recipients honored were:

Peggy Pelish, PhD, received the Spirit of Shared Governance Award.
  • Jami Fulwider, Lincoln Division – Rosalee C. Yeaworth Teaching Excellence Award, which recognizes a current full or part-time faculty member for his/her teaching excellence.
  • Windy Alonso, PhD, Omaha Division – Pennie Z. Davis Faculty Research Award, which recognizes the contributions of a College of Nursing faculty researcher to nursing science.
  • Mark Darby, Omaha Division – Ada M. Lindsey Professional Service Award -Professional Service. Awardees are honored for their support of clinical practice and professional service.
  • Emily Coffey, Omaha Division – Dean's Excellence in Teaching Award, which honors a current full or part-time faculty member for his/her teaching excellence. 
  • Mark Darby, Omaha Division – Kathryn Sandahl Philp Creativity and Innovation Award, which acknowledges and supports faculty creativity and innovation in teaching, research or practice/service.
  • LeAnn Holmes, DNP, Lincoln Division – Donna Westmoreland Excellence in Faculty Mentoring Award, which recognizes a faculty member who has demonstrated excellence in mentoring faculty or graduate assistants in teaching or teaching scholarship.
  • Peggy Pelish, PhD, Omaha Division – Spirit of Shared Governance Award, which recognizes, in part, a person who demonstrates positive action toward using the governance system to promote shared solutions and collegiality within the college.
  • Heidi Keeler, PhD, Omaha Division – Virginia Tilden Leadership Development Award. This award was created to help develop the advanced leadership skills of a faculty member with an interest in and demonstrated capacity for senior level leadership.
  • Academic Success Coaches (Ann Callies, Bobbie Barton, Sherri Peterson, Kaycee Kube and Amy Zitterkopf) – Distinguished TEAM Award, which recognizes three or more who have made an impact by contributing to excellence for the UNMC College of Nursing through teamwork that benefits many. All five divisions are represented among this year’s awardees.
  • John Rejda, Omaha Division, and Diane Feldman, Kearney Division – Staff Excellence Award (Tie)
  • Gwen Porter, Norfolk Division – Staff Spirit Award, which recognizes and honors an individual who has had a meaningful impact within the UNMC College of Nursing by consistently demonstrating a positive attitude, dedication, initiative and the ability to work together toward a common vision.
  • Amelia Stoltman, Omaha Division – Staff Leadership Award, which recognizes an outstanding staff member who has made exemplary leadership contributions to the College of Nursing.
  • Lisa Muschall, Omaha Division – Ada M. Lindsey Professional Staff Award, which honors a current full-time staff member for his/her service excellence to the UNMC College of Nursing.
