Student Senate, chancellor work to aid student comfort with new green space furnishings

The UNMC pending time outside, but on beautiful days, being outside is quite special … I wished we had an option on campus where students could sit comfortably on our quad to enjoy time with friends, take a break from studying inside, or eat their Coneflower ice cream from Student Senate Green Space Series events."

Student Senate Treasurer Estefania Lanza Rodriguez worked with UNMC facilities and the grounds team to strategize how UNMC could acquire and maintain Adirondack chairs, and Dr. Gold funded the project.

"We are excited to now have eight, solid wood, UNMC red Adirondack chairs, custom built by local artisan Lenora Allen, by the green space next to the Ruth and Bill Scott Plaza. They add a delightful pop of color to the space, and it is so lovely to see students already making good use of them," Tandon said.

"UNMC College of Nursing Creative Writing Awards, 2020-21," a collection of works from the 2020-21 College of Nursing Creative Writing Contest, is now available for purchase from the UNMC Bookstore.

"Nurses need to tell their own stories," said Erin Cross, e-commerce manager from the bookstore. "That is what the UNMC College of Nursing Creative Writing Project is meant to do — give nursing students a chance to tell their story."

More than 20 award-winning stories from the 2020-21 contest are included in the book, including an entry that was featured on the American Journal of Nursing's blog.
