The Great Plains IDeA-CTR Network, an NIH/NIGMS funded grant, is accepting applications for three funding opportunities for early career investigators.
A Biomedical Informatics and Data Science Scholar Award is being offered. The award will provide $25,000 annually to support preliminary research efforts or career development for up to four years, as well as access to resources of the Great Plains IDeA-CTR to further research efforts. In addition, salary support of up to 50% FTE (25% supported by NIGMS and 25% supported by the applicant’s institution) is included. Applications are due June 20. View the full RFA.
The Early Career Investigator Program (ECIP) Award will provide up to $15,000 a year for up to two years to support early career faculty by helping them develop an R or K award or equivalent research career-development application. The program will help network participants with appropriate mentors, identifying training needs and developing and implementing a feasibility research project that will require participation in a longitudinal grant-writing boot camp during the first year of funding. Applications are due May 15. View the RFA. Apply here.
The Mini-Sabbatical Program allows CTR faculty to participate in short-term research immersion opportunities. The goal is to facilitate knowledge acquisition to enhance grant competitiveness. A mini-sabbatical, usually completed in one or two weeks, is intended to meet objectives based on the individual’s previous knowledge, experience, specific interests, research and/or training goals. These awards are for up to $2,500 each. Applications will be accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis, and the number of awards given may be capped based on available funding. Full-time faculty from all Great Plains IDeA-CTR Network partner Institutions (UNMC, University of Nebraska at Omaha, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, University of Nebraska at Kearney, Creighton University, Boys Town, Children’s Hospital & Medical Center and the Omaha VA) may apply. For applicants requesting help identifying potential immersion opportunities, the Great Plains IDeA-CTR Network will work with the National IDeA-CTR consortium to identify possible placement opportunities.
