How I fell in love with dentistry: I didn’t fall in love with dentistry at first. My father was a dentist and told me for as long as I can remember that I was going to be a dentist. I would say that dentistry is not the only profession, and he would respond, "What are you going to do, dig ditches?" So off I went to find my way. After a year of unemployment, my father approached me and offered me a job as a laboratory technician. I did that for nine years, and that’s when I fell in love with dentistry. I went to dental school and practiced with my father for 25 years before he retired.
