Employees of the month are nominated by UNMC College of Medicine leaders.

College of Medicine employees of the month are nominated by college leaders. Renee Alley was nominated by UNMC College of Medicine Dean Bradley Britigan, MD, and Geoffrey Talmon, MD, associate dean for medical education (see sidebar at right).

Talk about your job and what you like best about it:

I have been the accreditation coordinator for the UNMC College of Medicine for eight years. Although the accreditation process is very challenging, it is also extremely rewarding. During my tenure, the college has received full accreditation in 2015 and 2021. I appreciate the confidence both Dr. Talmon and Dr. Britigan have in me to coordinate such a critical task for the College of Medicine.

List three things people may not know about you:

I have three kids — Dallas, 1, Payton, 5, and Jayden, 17 — and a dog, Jagermeister, 13.
I’m slightly obsessed with all things paranormal.
My husband and I bought a house built in 1900 in a small community to raise our family. It has been under construction since the day we purchased it.

An outstanding colleague

In nominating Alley, UNMC College of Medicine Dean Bradley Britigan, MD, praised her work on the recent Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) re-accreditation.

"She coordinated everything and we would have not been successful without her efforts," Dr. Britigan said.

Geoffrey Talmon, MD, associate dean for medical education, said:

"Renee is an integral member of the team in the Office of Medical Education, playing a key role as accreditation coordinator. Her consistently impeccable work in the day-to-day management of the college’s medical school curriculum contributed in large part to the success of the redesign process several years ago, as well as numerous other recent innovations.

"Her understanding of the 'big picture,' attention to detail, work ethic, collaborative spirit and ability to align the needs of multiple stakeholders make her a go-to partner for faculty, staff and students. Renee’s abilities and skill were best exemplified during the recent successful LCME accreditation process -- there is no doubt that this positive outcome was due in no small part to her efforts. The OME and college as a whole are fortunate to have Renee as an outstanding colleague."
