Dele Davies, MD, appears on ‘Raise the Line’ podcast

Dele Davies, MD, senior vice chancellor for academic affairs and dean for graduate studies, is featured on a recent episode of the podcast "Raise the Line," featured on Osmosis by Elsevier, where he discusses the importance of thinking "not globally, not locally, but ‘glocally.’"

 Dr. Davies joins podcast host Rishi Desai, MD, for the episode in which he discusses his role models,  talks about his interest in infectious diseases and discusses UNMC response to the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, including being home to a leading healing arts program, a campus symphony and the Global Center for Health Security's National Quarantine Unit. Dr. Goldsweig named to chair of SCAI Structural Heart Disease Council

The Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Intervention recently appointed Andrew Goldsweig, MD, UNMC associate professor of interventional cardiology, chair of the society’s Structural Heart Disease Council. During the two-year appointment, Dr. Goldsweig’s role will be to further the education, advocacy, and information exchange within the structural interventionalist community.

Radiology reading room phone number is changing

The UNMC Department of Radiology’s reading room phone numbers will be changing effective Tuesday, May 3. The change is an effort to improve customer service.

Clinicians who want to speak with a radiologist should dial 402-559-1010 and choose option 1 to be routed appropriately.

Drive-through food drive supports Mav Food Pantry

The drive-through food drive for the Mav Food Pantry collected 320 items from more than 25 people this week. That's double the amount of donations collected last year for De-Stress Week.

People who donated five items or more received a UNMC "At Our Best Together" hat.

The Maverick Food Pantry supports the UNMC and University of Nebraska at Omaha communities with food and personal hygiene products, as well as connections to other area resources for support.

On average, the Maverick Food Pantry fills 460 bags during the spring semester. As of last week, the pantry had filled 906 bags for the semester, an increase of 346 bags from last year, and requests are still coming in.

Food trucks on campus

Food trucks will be on campus the week of May 2-6 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in two spots on campus.

East end of campus north of the UNMC ice rink:

  • Wednesday – La Casa Pizza
  • Thursday – Zemogs

Durham Research towers:
