Sign up for alerts from UNMC, Nebraska Medicine

Nebraska Medicine and UNMC share an emergency notification system designed to keep colleagues informed of potential or active safety concerns.

The system is called UNMC ALERTS, also sometimes referred to as Omnilert. Targeted alerts can be sent to groups of colleagues and locations, depending on the size and scope of a situation. Med center colleagues are encouraged to sign up to receive the alerts.

A common alert is for severe weather, such as thunderstorm and tornado watches or warnings. It can be used in the event of an armed intruder, a gas leak, a fire, need for evacuation, a ruptured pipe or street closure. It also can be used for backup communication, such as when the paging system at Nebraska Medical Center for medical emergencies recently went down briefly.

When people sign up for alerts, they indicate their work location and preference of communication — text message, phone call or email.

People who sign up must use their med center email address, or the registration will be removed from the system. It’s important to keep information updated to ensure receipt of future alerts.

Step-by-step instructions are available here.
