UNMC will hold the second day of its personal document shredding and electronic recycling event today from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The event will be at the UNMC Grounds Building (annex 23) in Lot 17, 4650 Jones St. Enter by turning north onto 45th Street from Leavenworth Street. Follow signs northwest to the Grounds Building. Enter on south side; exit to the north onto Saddle Creek Roadd. Click here to see a map.
People dropping off items must:
- Be a UNMC, Nebraska Medicine, University of Nebraska at Omaha or Clarkson College employee or student and show their identification badge.
- Have recyclable items separated by category. Containers with mixed items will not be accepted.
- Have paper in totes, boxes or paper bags.
- Have small items in totes, boxes or bags. Boxes and totes can be returned to guest.
- Stay in their car and allow attendants to unload the items from the car.
- Turn off car ventilation system while attendants are unloading.
Attendants will wear masks, gloves and safety goggles and will follow campus guidance if they are experiencing symptoms or have tested positive for COVID-19.
Many shredding and recycling services are provided for free. Details on what is or is not accepted, along with any electronics recycling fees, are on UNMC's LiveGreen website.
The annual event is held in collaboration with the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
People bringing materials to shred or recycle are asked to bring an item for the Maverick Food Pantry, which serves both UNO and UNMC students. The food pantry is looking for specific items, found here. Food pantry donations should be clearly marked.
