Dr. Carver helps lead international ombuds standards update 

UNMC’s David Carver, PhD, played an integral role in the latest International Ombuds Association’s Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics. The newly released standards guide organizational ombuds practices worldwide.

Dr. Carver, director of UNMC’s ombuds program, co-chaired the IOA’s Standards of Practice/Code of Ethics Task Force and also served on the board of directors' final review team. Dr. Carver was one of the leaders throughout the project, which was done in phases over six years.   

UNMC’s ombuds program is an independent, confidential, impartial, informal and free consultation service for students, faculty and staff. Ombudspersons help identify and evaluate options for dealing with problematic situations. They also provide interpersonal communication coaching and informal mediation. Students collecting first aid supplies for homeless 

Students in the UNMC College of Allied Health Professions are collecting first aid kit supplies for the homeless in Kearney and Omaha. The drive runs from April 11-22.  

 The CAHP and student and community engagement ambassadors are requesting supplies such as: 

  • Bandages  
  • Alcohol wipes 
  • Gauze pads 
  • Hand sanitizer 
  • Antibiotic cream 
  • First aid tape 
  • Small flashlights 
  • Tweezers 

In Omaha, donations can be dropped off at the Sorrell Commons and/or at the Dunkin Donuts in the Olson Atrium of the Wigton Heritage Center. Items will be donated to the Open Door Mission.

In Kearney, donations may be dropped off in the commons areas of the Health Science Education Complex. Items will be donated to Crossroads Mission Avenue.

Food trucks on campus

Food trucks will be on campus the week of April 11-15 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in two spots on campus.

East end of campus north of the UNMC ice rink:

  • Monday – Kebobs Gyros and Brats
  • Tuesday – Street Eats
  • Wednesday – La Casa Pizza 
  • Thursday – Zemogs
  • Friday – Corndog Company

Durham Research towers:

  • Wednesday – Kebobs Gyros and Brats
  • Friday – Zemogs
