UNMC’s International Student Association and the Office of Global Engagement are celebrating spring with the return of the annual Holi Festival of Colors on Saturday, April 9.
The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the green space of the Ruth and Bill Scott Student Plaza to the east of the ice rink.
Holi is a Hindu spring festival, celebrated in India and internationally. It symbolizes rejuvenation and optimism, and it also is known as the "Festival of Colors" or "Festival of Love."
It celebrates the arrival of spring after winter and signifies the victory of good over evil. For many, it is a festive day to meet others, play, laugh, forgive, forget and repair broken relationships.
The event will include free Indian food, Bollywood music and the traditional color toss as a way to wash away the gloom of winter.
