Shane Tsai, MD, assumes new position as vice chair of specialty clinical care

Shane Tsai, MD, section chief for electrophysiology in the UNMC Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, has assumed a new role of vice chair of specialty clinical care in the UNMC Department of Internal Medicine.

Deb Romberger, MD, chair of the department, said Tom Tape, MD, previously held the role of vice chair of clinical affairs in addition to the division chief of general internal medicine.

With Dr. Tape's retirement, a new role for vice chair of specialty clinical care was created, and a vice chair of primary clinical care will be announced later.

Reminder: CTR-MSP accepting applications for scholars

The UNMC Clinical Translational Research Mentored Scholar Program is accepting applications for members of the university faculty to join the program.

The program offers a master's or PhD track designed to develop scientists or health professionals who are at the junior faculty stage into productive and independent clinical and translational researchers by providing mentored research training. The application deadline to join the program is April 29.

Scholars in this program can apply for a $25,000 pilot projects grant that will support collection of data needed to submit extramural funding.
