Discount offered for National Geographic Live event

Omaha Performing Arts will host a National Geographic Live presentation on "The Secret Life of Bears" with carnivore ecologist Rae Wynn-Grant, PhD, on Tuesday, Feb. 15, at 7:30 p.m, and the UNMC community qualifies for discounted tickets.

Dr. Wynn-Grant has dedicated her life to ecological research and conservation. As a scientist with National Geographic Society’s Last Wild Places Initiative, she works to protect and restore iconic wildlife populations, including North American black and grizzly bears.

When the wild lands of their habitat are crisscrossed by roads, fences and ranches, how can bears coexist peacefully with humans? Dr. Wynn-Grant intends to find the answer.

Tickets are $10, plus processing fees with the promo code BEARS22, and can be purchased here.

Wynn-Grant also will have a conversation with Sheritta Strong, MD, assistant vice chancellor of inclusion at UNMC, about amplifying Black women in the sciences at a free Voices Amplified event on Wednesday, Feb. 16, at the Charles B. Washington Branch library. The event will be livestreamed on the Omaha Performing Arts Facebook and YouTube channels.
