Justin Mott, MD, PhD, associate professor of biochemistry and molecular biology, has been named the Varner Educator Laureate for 2021-22. He and other recipients of the 2021-22 UNMC Impact in Education Awards will be honored at a virtual ceremony at 4 p.m. on March 3.
The Varner Educator Laureate Award recognizes an individual with sustained achievement in education who has significantly improved the UNMC learning environment through the provision of outstanding educational experiences.
Dr. Mott, the 2018 recipient of the Chancellor Emeritus Harold M. Maurer, MD, and Beverly Maurer Scientific Achievement Award, oversees the UNMC College of Medicine’s MD-PhD program.

The award recognizes volunteer, emeritus or adjunct faculty whose daily service to our learners exemplifies the spirit of outstanding teaching or clinical supervision.
