Effective Feb. 1, Sarah Gloden Carlson, JD, will serve as interim assistant vice chancellor and director for UNMC Human Resources.
Aileen Warren, the former associate vice chancellor and executive director for UNMC’s human resources, left the position Dec. 31.
The 13-member search committee is temporarily pausing its national recruitment efforts for the role while UNMC also seeks to fill the position of vice chancellor for business, finance and business development, which is the person who would supervise the HR director.
Susan Kraft Mann, who is serving as the interim vice chancellor for business, finance and business development, said promising candidates for the HR position may not be inclined to apply if they are unsure to whom they will report. Kraft Mann also has been serving as interim assistant vice chancellor and director of human resources, the role Gloden Carlson will assume. She will leave that extended role due to expanding responsibilities during the upcoming legislative budget session.
"Since Sarah joined UNMC in 2016, she has demonstrated consummate leadership and professionalism," Kraft Mann said. "We have every confidence in her ability to serve in this important role for the human resources department."
Prior to joining UNMC as the chief compliance officer, Gloden Carlson worked at the University of Nebraska Foundation, where she was the director of development for the UNMC College of Nursing. Prior to that, Gloden Carlson was assistant dean and director of communications for the University of Nebraska College of Law. Carlson received her JD from the University of South Dakota School of Law.
Gloden Carlson will remain chief compliance officer while serving in the interim HR role.
