Registration now is open for the 2022 Walk & Roll for Disabilities.
The fundraiser’s 18th event, organized by the Meyer Foundation for Disabilities, is set for March 6 from 9 a.m. to noon.
At this time, organizers plan to return to an in-person event at Oak View Mall, located at 3001 S. 144th St., but they continue to monitor COVID-19 case trends.
Although the 2020 event was able to be held in person, the 2021 version went off via Zoom. It drew some 200 participants and families.
Walk & Roll is a critical fundraising event to support recreation therapy programs for adults with disabilities at the Munroe-Meyer Institute. Recreation opportunities are increasingly important for adults with disabilities as medical advances help them live longer, said Mary McHale, president of the Meyer Foundation.
And the Walk & Roll event is a great opportunity for people with disabilities, their parents and friends to connect with other families and friends, McHale said. It will include clowns and an appearance by the 501st Legion Star Wars.
