Hannah Tandon, vice president of the student senate, student in the UNMC College of Medicine and human of UNMC:

"I came to UNMC for medical school without knowing anyone in my class. The morning before the White Coat Ceremony, I was sitting alone at a table in the Sorrell atrium, waiting for my parents, when one of my new classmates pulled up a chair and exclaimed, 'Man, health insurance is complicated!' Another new classmate sat down, too, and soon enough the three of us were boisterously talking about everything from the complexity of the American health care system to our shared liberal arts backgrounds. Almost four years later, Tom and Natalie are still two of my best friends, companions through the significant highs and lows of medical school. I now count all 120-something of my classmates as friends, and I will forever be grateful to Tom and Natalie for pulling up chairs that very first day." #HumansOfUNMC
