Talk about your job and what you like best about it:
Clinical coordinators are full time multitasking ninjas specializing in taming chaos. No matter how much I plan for a day, things happen, patients cancel, and I may not be able to cross even one item off my list that day. I like the total chaos of my job and I like to put this chaos into an order. I like that my day is never the same. And most importantly, I like that most people have no idea what I do.
It is also extremely rewarding to give patients free LASIK, and I do exactly that when we have LASIK studies. The studies usually last a year or two and I get to know my patients very well. After a while, it’s like meeting a good friend.
I like interactions with patients, doctors, monitors, CROs, other coordinators and hundreds of people I have never met but talk with for years via emails. These interactions turn into unique relationships over time. I love being a part of this chaos of relationships and interactions but also being in control of it.
List three things people may not know about you:
- Most people don’t know that I love cats and have four cats at home. Yep, I’m a bona-fide cat lady.
- I love inventing words. With different people, I use different made-up words – they are called "our touch points" (also a made-up expression).
- I joke all the time and love to make people laugh (I just do it with a complete "poker face" to maintain the stealth mode).
