The Nebraska Medical Orchestra and Nebraska Medical Choir will perform a holiday pops concert Wednesday, Dec. 15, at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
The concert features the Nebraska Medical Choir’s debut performance.
The performance is free and open to UNMC faculty, staff and students and their family, along with the general public.
It will start at 7:30 p.m. at the Jan & John Christensen Concert Hall in UNO’s Strauss Performing Arts Center. Parking is free and adjacent to the Strauss Performing Arts Center. ADA parking and seating are available.
Each group will individually perform familiar holiday carols as well as holiday and pops pieces. The concert will culminate with two combined works from the orchestra and choir.
Per the UNMC and UNO Health Security COVID-19 policies, everyone in attendance will be required to wear a mask. Families may sit together, but each group is asked to socially distance from others in the concert hall. All participants in the ensembles, including the choir, will be masked and distanced; protocols include modified masks to minimize risk while playing.
The ensembles are a partnership between UNMC and the UNO School of Music.
Created in 2018, the Nebraska Medical Orchestra is a volunteer orchestra comprised of musicians from UNMC, Nebraska Medicine, Children’s Hospital & Medical Center, Clarkson College, Creighton University and other organizations and private practices.
The Nebraska Medical Choir started this fall to build on the UNMC and UNO partnership. Currently, the choir is formed of UNMC, Nebraska Medicine and Children's Hospital students, staff and faculty.
