Annual employee giving drive kicks off next week

The 2021 UNMC Employee Giving campaign will begin next week.

As in previous years, you can participate via three different pathways: the United Way of the Midlands campaign, Give Nebraska (formerly the Community Service Fund of Nebraska) or the University of Nebraska Foundation campaign.

"COVID-19 has left many of our fellow Nebraskans vulnerable. Those who were struggling before the pandemic are facing even greater hardships with housing, utilities, food and more," UNMC Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold, MD, said. "Our participation in this campaign is vital. This year, we have set a campus goal of 50%. It is my hope that the UNMC family will join together at that rate or better, and let our community know we stand behind them."

Here are some details about this year's campaign:

Timing:

  • Begins Nov. 8 and runs through Nov. 30. Employees will receive an email from the UNMC Today account. In this email, employees will click on the link of any fund they wish to donate to.

Giving options:

Employees have the option to direct their contributions to any of the following organizations:

  • United Way of the Midlands, which supports a variety of human-service program providers across the Omaha/Council Bluffs area. United Way-supported programs create life-changing opportunities by meeting the basic needs of the area's most vulnerable populations, supporting children during their academic years and helping to prepare young people for productive careers. Click here to view a list of supported programs.
  • Give Nebraska, which connects donors to the causes they care about most. With more than 70 non-profit agencies to choose from, you can determine where your money goes. A list of supported agencies can be found here.
  • University of Nebraska Foundation – UNMC funds. These funds directly support the UNMC community. Donors may direct their support toward any of 16 separate funds, which range from student/employee disaster relief to research support and innovation for individual colleges. More information on these funds can be found here.

Incentives:

To help meet our campus goal of 50% employee participation, UNMC is offering incentives.

  • Those who pledge at least $10 total will be eligible to win a prize each week of the campaign. Donations made by Fridays at 3 p.m. qualify for that week's drawing, as well as subsequent drawings.
  • The earlier you donate, the better chance you have at winning.
  • Drawing winners will be notified via email.

I didn't see LiveOn Nebraska on the list. Can they be supported by this campaign?

  2. UNMC Today editor says:

Yes, they can be supported through the United Way campaign. In order to designate funds, the donor would have to provide a $50+ total donation. There is a spot within' the registration that you can write in the 501(c)(3) agency name that you would like to designate your donation to. Please reach out to our employee giving coordinator, Kelsey Scroggin (kelsey.scroggin@unmc.edu) if you have any additional questions.
