The Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center at UNMC has launched a speaker’s bureau and is inviting interested community groups, health care organizations, public health departments and K-12 schools and universities to engage with experts on cancer-related topics.
"The speaker’s bureau was established in order to increase engagement between community organizations and UNMC faculty and staff," said Shinobu Watanabe-Galloway, PhD, associate director, Buffett Cancer Center Community Outreach & Engagement Office.
Experts in surgical oncology, cancer survivorship, social work and research will share their knowledge through webinars or Zoom presentations.
Topics range from prevention and early detection to the most common types of cancers impacting people today, to clinical studies and research.
"Once a request is submitted, we will work to tailor the presentations to the specific topic of interest along with identifying the appropriate speaker to give the presentation," Dr. Watanabe-Galloway said.
To request and schedule a speaker visit the Buffett Cancer Center speaker’s bureau webpage here.
The cancer center's speaker bureau is part of the UNMC Speakers Bureau, which offers community groups across Nebraska a resource of experts on a diverse group of topics. Through the UNMC Speakers Bureau, your community group, club, civic or professional organization can tap into the expertise of university faculty members for presentations and discussions at no cost. Our volunteer speakers come from many areas, including public health and preparedness, wellness, and mental health.
More than 25 UNMC experts speak to over 1,500 people through the program each year.
Those interested in having a guest speaker should contact the speaker's bureau at least one month prior to their event, by filling out the speaker request form. Requests are subject to the availability of our guest speakers.
