UNMC’s Office of Graduate Studies is still hanging photos and settling in, but is now officially re-located to its new offices in the fully renovated Joseph D. & Millie E. Williams Science Hall.
Students are encouraged to stop in, and it is believed they will be more likely to do so, as "Williams" is now a one-stop shop for all student services, including parking, and the registrar. The UNMC Office of Global Engagement also is now housed in the renovated building.
"It’s a much nicer space, with a centralized location on campus," said Pamela Carmines, PhD, executive associate dean of graduate studies. "It’s more convenient, and hopefully students will hang out in the atrium. It’s near food trucks, and right across the street from the library."
The former administration and education space for the College of Pharmacy was repurposed to house UNMC Student Success, Graduate Studies, and International Health and Medical Education offices. It also serves as the home for the UNMC High School Alliance.
The now-completed project includes updated atrium space, stairwells and restrooms to meet current building code and ADA requirements, replacement of obsolete mechanical and electrical systems, an update of the building’s telecommunications infrastructure and updated laboratory spaces to meet current standards.
