How I fell in love with medicine: My father was my inspiration to pursue a career in medicine. He was an allergy and asthma physician, and he did a remarkable job connecting with patients and making them feel at ease. I chose a career in nephrology because it provides an opportunity to care for patients over a long period of time and build meaningful doctor-patient connections. Additionally, I love that nephrologists are always on the move, seeing patients in the clinic setting, hospital setting and in the community at outpatient dialysis centers. I became interested in glomerular diseases because of the complexity of cases and because of the growth in research with new treatments on the horizon.
