Registration ends this week for design thinking boot camp

Registration is now open for the 2021 Design Thinking Boot Camp, which is focused on individual development and team collaboration. The program will be application-based and feature content delivery paired with interviewing, ideation, prototyping and reflection — all while tackling a problem faced by UNMC.

This year's real-world challenge:

How might we re-imagine community-based and/or preceptor experiences that reflect the changing health care landscape?

The cost of registration is $550. Register here.

The two-day immersive Design Thinking workshop will be held Nov. 2-3 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Truhlsen Events Center. The last day to register is Oct. 20.

On Nov. 5, innovators in education, health care, and research from across the UNMC and University of Nebraska at Omaha campuses are invited to the attend the Health Design Thinking Showcase to share their projects, pitches, and works-in-progress in the field of human-centered design thinking.

The showcase will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Wigton Heritage Center.

"Design Thinking is an innovative human-centered problem-solving method that encourages techniques based in empathy, brainstorming, and innovation," said Kati Bravo, PhD, assistant professor and director of the BSN program in the UNMC College of Nursing and co-director of the UNMC Health Design Thinking Program. "Our upcoming Health Design Thinking Bootcamp would be ideal for anyone who is interested in learning more about designing with end-users in mind, ideation and creative problem solving."
