- Name: Tyler Evans, MD
- Medical school attended/year graduated: UNMC, 2019
- Residency/fellowship at UNMC: Dermatology
- Program director: Jennifer Adams, MD
How long is your training program and how long have you been at UNMC:
Four years (one year of internal medicine preliminary and three years of dermatology). I am a PGY 3, in my second year of dermatology training and was lucky enough to have completed my preliminary year in medicine here as well.
What do you like the most about your training program?
The cohesiveness of our group is very special. We have a lot of fun at work, which helps make the daily demands of residency more enjoyable. The residency program started in July of 2020, so being in the first class of residents has really allowed us to help shape the program and leave a lasting impact. The faculty have been like our upper levels and have really taken the extra time to make sure we are getting phenomenal training. They're awesome.
What challenges do you foresee in graduate medical education in the future?
One of the biggest upcoming challenges is going to be how to deal with the recent growth in the number of medical schools across the country but relative lack of growth in residency programs.
