How I fell in love with emergency medicine and critical care medicine: As far back as I can remember, I have always wanted to work in health care. After some shadowing in my early teenage years, I knew I wanted to be an emergency medicine physician. I enjoy the fast pace and collaborative effort required to help patients with acute issues. Critical care is an extension of that. It allows for the ongoing management of critically ill patients. It adds to my emergency medicine background and skill set. The ICU, especially the cardiovascular ICU, is where you will encounter some of the most physiologically complex patients in the hospital. I really enjoy the diversity of patients and pathology.

Education:

  • MS, healthcare leadership, Dartmouth College, Hanover, New Hampshire
  • DO, Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, Kansas City, Missouri
  • Emergency Medicine Residency, University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, Nebraska
  • Fellowship, critical care anesthesiology, UNMC

Memberships:

  • American College of Emergency Physicians
  • Society of Critical Care Medicine

Three things people may not know about me:

  • I enjoy traveling. My goal is to visit all 50 states and each of the national parks.
  • I've really taken a liking to cooking, grilling and baking. I'm pretty proud of my choux pastry, crème brûlée, breads and pulled pork.
  • My hobby is collecting hobbies. Lately I've been fascinated with astronomy and, more specifically, astrophotography. Other hobbies include camping, flyfishing, hiking, snowboarding and mountain biking.
