How I fell in love with neuroscience: Children with learning disabilities did trigger my research interest in cognitive neuroscience field, while I was teaching biology and chemistry. Later on, my work with talented scientists from sleep medicine and imaging fields inspired me to learn more about the brain physiology during sleep and wake states, and how we can use imaging modalities to understand the normal and abnormal brain functions and potentially improve the abnormalities. And my love for the MEG in epilepsy was triggered by knowledge and, more importantly, by my patients who were looking for the help that a MEG exam can provide.

Degrees:

  • PhD, psychology, Helsinki University
  • MS, biology and chemistry, Odessa Mechnikov National University, Odessa, Ukraine

Memberships:

  • American Clinical MEG society
  • American Academy of Sleep Medicine
  • American Epilepsy Society

Something people may not know about me:

  • I love the nature across four seasons, as well as observing the birds and their behavior.
